A three-container family residence organised around a shaded courtyard, built off-site in eleven weeks.
Yard House began as a question about privacy on a narrow infill plot. Rather than filling the site, three steel volumes were pushed to the boundaries and turned inward, leaving a planted courtyard at the centre that every room borrows light and air from.
The structural shell was fabricated, insulated and finished in our yard, then craned into position over two days. On site, work was limited to foundations, service connections and the timber screen that wraps the western elevation.
